A major accident in Deerfield Beach on Sunday, August 23, at approximately
9:30 p.m. involved six vehicles and multiple injuries. Dispatchers sent
emergency personnel with Broward County Fire and Rescue to the scene of
the multi-vehicle wreck at 10th Street and Southeast 2nd Avenue.
Medical Helicopter Lands at School
Authorities closed Southeast 10th Street in the immediate aftermath of
the crash so that a medical helicopter could touch down at Zion Lutheran
school, according to the
Sun Sentinel. Emergency personnel transported a 14-year-old teenager and a three-year-old
child to Broward Health Medical Center due to critical injuries that they
sustained in the crash.
Two adults also required transport to the same medical facility. Emergency
personnel transported four other adults to Broward Health North with non-life-threatening
injuries. Three other adults required transport to local hospitals classified
as trauma alerts.
The circumstances surrounding this six-vehicle crash were not immediately
known, although the investigation is ongoing.
