Vero Beach Woman Hit, Killed In Car Crash

A Vero Beach woman was killed on Sunday, Nov. 17 when she was struck by a car.

The Florida Highway Patrol told WPTV News Channel 5 that the woman was strolling along Oslo Road near 27th Avenue around 6:15 p.m. when she was struck by a 2010 Dodge Charger.

The woman was immediately rushed to Indian River Medical Center, but there was nothing doctors could due to save her. She was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The 28-year-old man who had been driving the Dodge Charger told authorities that he did not see the woman walking along the road. It does not seem the man suffered any injuries in the incident, and the episode remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. If drugs, alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the accident, authorities have not yet said so.

As a Stuart, FL car accident lawyer, I often step into the aftermath of tragedies like this and do my best to help my clients pick up the pieces. In the case of a fatal incident, the usual process is to file a wrongful death lawsuit and attempt to recover damages on behalf of the deceased's loved ones. Those damages are usually meant to compensate the family as best they can for loss of income, medical and funeral expenses and the like.

If you think it would be good for you to have a conversation with a personal injury attorney who serves the communities in and around Indian River and Martin counties, you can contact me at any time. I would be happy to look into your case for you and identify possible steps for the future.
